Media Release: GLENRAC’s Farmer Update information evening is back for another year

GLENRAC’s hugely popular Farmer Update information evening is back for another year, with an interesting range of industry gatherings to discuss the future of carbon emissions and what net zero will mean for Australian farmers, farm safety, rural fire management and farm insurance.

Lorraine Gordon is the Director of Strategic Projects, Farming Together and the Regenerative Agriculture Alliance, at Southern Cross University. She is also an active part of a grazing and agritourism business at Ebor, Moffatt Falls. Lorraine will discuss what the term ‘net zero’ means for farmers and what you need to know now and for the future.

Marco Rindo from Safe Work NSW will discuss the common cause of injuries on-farm and tips for managing risk. Attendees with an ABN (any business, not just farmers) may also be eligible for the Safe Work NSW rebates of up to $1,000 on workplace safety items including remote work safety devices, access ramps, guard rails and sunshades.

A representative from Meat and Livestock Australia will give a red meat market update for beef and sheep and Jane Munro from NSW DPI Rural Recovery Support will cover on-farm insurance, is your insurance adequate for your future risks including natural disasters.

We will also be joined by Angus MacDowall from Rural Fire Service to discuss updates on farm fire units and how local farmers can work with RFS to respond to fire emergencies in the future. He will also cover how to apply for fire permits and required notifications.

Displays will be available from 5:00 pm from a range of service providers including the Rural Financial Counselling Services, Safe Work NSW and GLENRAC.
