Media Release: GLENRAC’s Fit Farmers event

Essential Energy staff Chris Trutwein and Chris Ryan at the 2023 Fit Farmer event.

All are invited to attend GLENRAC’s free Fit Farmers information day at the Glen Innes District Services Club Thursday 12th September 2024, 6:00pm - 9:00pm.

‘Fit Farmers takes place on RU OK day each year and is a day that highlights the importance of taking some time to check in on your own physical, financial and emotional health for farmers,’ said GLENRAC Chief Executive Officer, Kylie Falconer.

‘The event is always a highlight of our calendar as it includes presentations from a diverse range of speakers, this year we are delighted to host Essential Energy as our keynote address. Chris Trutwein, Senior Safety Specialist, from the Public Safety Advisory and Assurance Team will deliver a presentation on powerline safety on farms including Look Up and Live and the powerline marker program all account holders can access. I highly recommend coming along and listening to Chris’ presentation to everyone, if you don’t know what to do if you have a fallen powerline, make sure you attend’.

The evening will also feature a presentation from Jodi Toole, Safe Work NSW; Sarah Green from Highway to Well and Huw Coleman from Training Services NSW, Skilled. Attendance at the evening will entitle eligible businesses to apply for the current $1,000 small business rebates available. This can include rebates on workplace safety items such as 2-way radios, emergency position-indicating radio beacons (EPIRB), head bales and sunshades.

GLENRAC has recently promoted fee-free training courses available under the AgSkilled program including chemical users and first aid training. Huw Coleman will present on other opportunities currently available for farm businesses and farm employees under this program.  Sarah Green from Highway to Well will share with us her perspectives of staying well on farms for individuals, families and businesses.

Free to attend. Supper provided.
